2008 Movies chart – Interesting action movies this year!

I am an action/thriller/horror movie fan. I do watch movies of comedy, family, drama but I prefer watching them in TV 🙂 In our bachelor’s den, we used to talk about movie releases often and that way we kept ourselves updated. Nowadays, its tougher to meet those guys. So in that fashion, thought about helping guys like me out there and hence this post. This year its full of sequels in Hollywood just as in Tamil and Telugu they started churning out remakes 🙂 Among the movies slated for release this year, I have listed below the movies I am interested and awaiting to watch.


Rambo – January 2008
Rambo in Burma! He is on a rescue mission with a group of mercenaries to save a group of Christian human rights missionaries. (Oh… man! Sylvester is 61 years old !! )

Untraceable – January 2008
A serial killer who rigs contraptions that kill his victims based on the number of hits received by a website that features a live streaming video of the victim. Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson as the couple hunting the treasure this is a romantic action thriller movie.

Fool’s Gold – February 2008
A new clue to the whereabouts of a lost treasure rekindles a married couple’s sense of adventure — and their estranged romance.

Jumper – February 2008
A genetic abnormality allows a young man to teleport himself anywhere. He discovers this gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between ‘Jumpers’ and those who have sworn to kill them.

Vantage Point – February 2008
Two Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton (William Hurt) at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. However the President is shot moments after his arrival in Salamanca, Spain. Chaos everywhere. The assassination is narrated in five different perspectives.

Possession – March 2008
When a woman’s husband and brother-in-law end up in comas after a car accident, the brother-in-law wakes – claiming to be her unconscious husband.


10,000 BC – March 2008
As a member of a primitive tribe during the dawn of man, 21-year-old mammoth hunter D’Leh (Steven Strait) travels through unknown lands on a quest to rescue his people from extinction.[1] D’Leh, leading an army, uncovers a lost civilization while in pursuit of a warlord who kidnapped his love, Evolet (Camilla Belle). D’Leh and his army encounter saber-toothed cats, mammoths and other prehistoric creatures in the journey to save his tribe.[2]

Iron Man – May 2008
When Tony Stark is forced to create a life support suit to keep him alive after an accident he decides to use the technology in his suit to fight crime.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian – May 2008
The villainous King Miraz prevents the rightful king, his young nephew Prince Caspian, from ruling the land of Narnia. Caspian uses Susan’s magic horn that was left in Narnia to summon the four Pevensies to help him and a small army of Old Narnians reclaim his rightful throne.


Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – May 2008
Indiana Jones is having a quiet life teaching before being thrust back into his old adventuring. He races against agents of the Soviet Union for the crystal skull.

The Incredible Hulk – June 2008
Bruce Banner is on the run from the United States Army and General “Thunderbolt” Ross, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into the Hulk. Meanwhile, a soldier named Emil Blonsky repeats the accident that gave Banner his powers, but as he is unable to change back to human form, he blames Banner and seeks his revenge.

HellBoy II – The Golden Army – July 2008
The mythical world starts a rebellion against humanity in order to rule the Earth, so Hellboy and his team must save the world from the rebellious creatures.

Batman – The Dark Knight Returns – July 2008
Batman back again saving Gotham city.


The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor – August 2008
Brendan Fraser returns as explorer Rick O’Connell to combat the resurrected Qin Emperor (Jet Li) in an epic that races from the catacombs of ancient China high into the frigid Himalayas. Rick is joined in this all-new adventure by son Alex (newcomer Luke Ford), wife Evelyn (Maria Bello) and her brother, Jonathan (John Hannah). And this time, the O’Connells must stop a mummy awoken from a 2,000-year-old curse who threatens to plunge the world into his merciless, unending service.

Babylon AD – August 2008
A young woman has been genetically tampered with, possessing a virus that could kill the human race. A mercenary (Vin Diesel) is hired to escort the woman from a post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe to New York City.

Punisher: War Zone – September 2008
Waging his one-man war on the world of organized crime, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the “Punisher Task Force” hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished.

Death Race – September 2008
Set in a future version of America, a prisoner (Statham) who is weeks away from being released is forced by his warden (Allen) to compete in a brutal, deadly car race alongside his fellow inmates.

Saw V – October 2008
An investigative journalist stumbles into Jigsaw’s game while on assignment.


James Bond – Quantum of Solace – November 2008
Wow! 007 is back again. Daniel Craig is starring again in this yet another awesome James Bond movie. A ruthless businessman and a member of the organization, Greene intends to use his government contacts to help overthrow the current regime in a Latin American country, and place the exiled General Medrano as the head of state. Medrano will in exchange give the organization a barren piece of land, which actually will give them total control of “one of the world’s most important natural resources”. Bond travels to Austria and South America to unravel Greene’s plan, staying one step ahead of the CIA, terrorists and M whilst trying to keep his desire for retribution over Vesper Lynd’s death in check.


Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince – November 2008
As Harry Potter begins his 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he discovers an old book marked mysteriously “This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince” and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort’s dark past.

Star Trek XI – December 2008
A chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members. Interesting in starcast is Eric Bana (Munich, Hulk) is acting as villain in this movie.

    My pick is Dark Knight. Cant wait to see Nolan’s interpretation of Joker. Poor Heath Ledger:(

    I liked Vantage Point, its scary to see what happened behind the curtains of all the agencies.
